How to apply for a Blue Badge
You have a disability which means you are not able to walk.
You have a disability and have a great difficulty walking from your car to where you want to go.
You have a disability which means that you are likely to come to harm when you are walking.
You have a disability and you are likely to harm someone when you are walking.
You will get a Blue Badge if you get the Higher Rate of Mobility Component in your Disability Living Allowance.
You may be able to get a Blue Badge if you get some categories of PIP.
Armed forces. You can also get a Blue Badge if you became disabled while you were serving in the armed forces.
Children may be able to get a Blue Badge if they are over 2 years old and have a great difficulty in walking.
Drivers with a disability in their arms. You may be able to get a Blue Badge if you drive a vehicle and have a disability in both of your arms. You will probably have a car that has been adapted. It may have different controls.
Parents of disabled children under 3 years old. You may be able to get a badge if you have a disabled child under 3 years old. Your child would either:
a) Have to always have medical equipment with them that is hard to carry.
b) Have to always be close to the vehicle in case of emergency. The council may ask for information from the child’s doctor before you get a Blue Badge.
Organisations that work with disabled people. Some organisations that care for disabled people and transport them can get a Blue Badge. Organisations that have a Blue Badge can only use them if they have a disabled person on board, or the vehicle is picking up disabled people.
